INTERPROFESSIONAL EVIDENCE-BASED CARDIOPULMONARY MANAGEMENT PROTOCOLS- Hurst, TX

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Post-acute interprofessional team members may often work with residents who have new or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders.  So, it is important to know current evidence-based management protocols for these disease processes, based on current research and industry standards.  Team members need to be updated on the specific evidence-based protocols for cardiac & pulmonary rehab, to include all the risks and precautions of these disorders and their related co-morbidities. 

This course will prepare the therapy team member with several factors, to initially include a brief overview of the pathophysiology of cardiac & pulmonary disease processes, followed by common cardiac medications and their precautions, and responses to be monitored with exercise and specific drug classes.  Then clinical practice guidelines and protocols for monitoring symptoms will be reviewed for the physical therapist, occupational therapist and speech language pathologist to utilize for a range of clinical conditions.
